it was a very smooth transition control wise. I migrated to the 6DII from an 80D and 7D, since my main targets are my grandkids indoors, and they don't like a flash. You are likely far more experienced than I am since you are using it for studio and for social events, yet I think the 6DII will be very similar in feel and function to the 80D, and that may help you overall.
